JEFF KENDRICK

Pastor Of Worship Ministries / Elder

I grew up in a Christian home, going to church every Sunday and kids clubs during the week. But unfortunately I did not see the truth. I heard it week after week, but I was spiritually dead. As my life progressed, I grew further and further away from my family and church friends, and I found myself at a place where I was completely living for myself. I knew how to talk the talk and act in front of certain people so that I could fool them into thinking my life was together. Little did I know that I was really only fooling myself.

After high school, I enrolled in a Pre-Law program at the University of Western Ontario. I was going to make all the money in the world, and spend it all on myself and my pleasures. One night early in January my sin had taken me down a path that was leading me to self destruct. In the depths of the darkness in which i found myself, I cried out to God to save me.

The Lord allowed me to sink even deeper in my sin over the next month and a half, until one day, He opened my eyes and heart to the truth of who I was and how much I needed Jesus Christ. I was sitting in a little church, listening to a missionary from Africa give an update. Actually I wasn’t listening at all; I was being convicted by the Holy Spirit of my sin, and how awful and dead I really was. After the service I went straight to the missionary and told him that I needed to surrender my life to Jesus Christ.

It was as if a veil was removed from my eyes. Like the Apostle Paul, the scales were removed from my eyes. I confessed my sin to God, repented, and totally surrendered my life to Jesus. Jesus Christ became Lord of my life and I became a new creation on that glorious day, February 26, 1995. “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come” (2 Corinthians 5:17).

I knew that there was nothing else that I could do with my life than to serve the Lord everyday for the rest of my life, so that fall I went to Heritage Bible College to get my Bachelor of Church Music degree. I met Ellie at Heritage, and we were married in the spring of 1997. The Lord has blessed us with 4 wonderful children. I never thought that I would ever have a life like the one God has blessed me with. He is so good!

We live a life of complete surrender to Jesus Christ, and it is He who commands our destiny. What a Lord we serve! Hallelujah!

MY HOPE FOR Mission City

My hope for Mission City is that God will be glorified in everything that we say and do.

I also pray that Mission City will carry out the mission of the Lord that we hold: “To glorify God through the fulfilment of the Great Commission in the spirit of the Great Commandment.”

I pray that we would be unapologetic about His word, exalt Jesus in our worship without restraint, pray without ceasing, and be bold in our witness!

To Him be the glory.
