Next Steps

Welcome to Mission City

The first step to feeling at home here at Mission City is to connect with any one of our Welcome Team members who are stationed throughout the foyer and worship centre. You can stop by the Connections Desk located at the entrance of the church where our team is ready to greet you, answer any questions that you might have and invite you to our Mission City Welcome event, or Essentials class.

You can also fill out a Connection Card that gives you the opportunity to tell us a little about yourself, how to reach you, and what areas of Mission City you are interested in learning more about. These are available online and in the worship centre on Sunday mornings.

What are “Next Steps”?

Life at Mission City goes beyond weekend worship. It’s about ministering to our families, our communities, and each other. There’s so much happening here—we want to make it easy for you to meet people and find out all our church has for you and your family. There’s no better time then now to take your next step of connection. Check them out below, then get started with Step 1.

Step 1

Mission City Welcome

If you’re new to Mission City, the first step in connecting is to attend Welcome. This is an informal meet and greet, where you, along with other new people, are given an opportunity to learn more about our vision, history, and priorities while you meet some of the ministry staff and other key leaders from our church. This is a casual event where you will be able to ask questions, get to know more about Mission City, and meet some great people.

Step 2

Mission Essentials

This three-part course, which is a requirement for membership here, is designed to emphasize the characteristics of a quality disciple of Christ. Its purpose is to develop followers of Jesus who worship Christ, walk with Christ, and work for Christ. The class also provides further insight into our structure and doctrine. Mission Essentials is open to everyone, whether you’ve been attending for a while or are just getting started.

Step 3

Mission City Small Groups

Our aim is to glorify God by loving God and His mission of making quality disciples of Christ. We believe this is best accomplished in the context of community, where believers are able to mutually care for and encourage one another in accountable relationships by growing in Christ-likeness through God’s Word, worship, prayer and witness.

Baptism

Christian baptism by immersion in water is a public identification with Jesus Christ in His death, burial and resurrection. Water baptism is a public acknowledgment that the person is no longer dead in his/her sins, but now is alive in Christ.

Membership

We value an intentional plan to help every interested person enjoy godly relationships in the church. Church membership is a by product of people who are growing in Christ and who grasp the importance of serving the Lord by using their gifts to serve others in the local church.
